Module 4 - Essay Example 6. Mrs Turpin is shown as a woman who revels in a deep-satisfaction about her role in the world. With possessions like a house and her race, she considers herself far more superior to those who possess a house alone. Thus, the author shows her as a woman indulgent in her glory. 7. The dramatic irony becomes evident when the girl hurls her book at Mrs Turpin. The girl’s inability to withstand any more of Mrs Turpin’s pride and satisfaction is evident in this display of irony. 8. Mrs. Turpin final revelation is that human beings will be saved by Christ because of their identity as a human. God’s judgment is not based on the spiritual virtues because these are removed by their humanity. Thus, when Mrs Turpin views the spirits rising to heaven, she finds herself at the end of this line being no better than anyone else. 9. Flannery O Connor rightly points out the need for humanity today to view events that they do not come across in real life. The reader is indeed at a quest to find literature that shows them sin and innocence: the redemption and restoration act in today’s world. Good literature is indeed uplifting. It allows an individual to see their own flaws and work to improve them. It also contains the ability that makes an individual see the good that exists in humanity: a feeling that can cheer up any soul. Humor is felt to be a form of catharsis that allows the audience or reader to vent their feelings. It is a great form of art for the individual to relieve themselves of the tension and frustrations of

Strategic Marketing - Essay Example Understanding the company's operating environment in this way can help the small business owner to formulate an effective strategy, position the company for success, and make the most efficient use of the limited resources of the small business. Techniques used to assess market and industry attractiveness when entering a new business Many business owners depend only on very few marketing strategy but there are very many business techniques, which must be encouraged. Some are costly while some are less costly but this will depend with the financial status of the business owner (Robertson, Para 1). One is supposed to watch his or strategy consistently to avoid losses in the process. Successful marketing strategy considers a range of products and the styles used by competitors. Any marketing strategy to be adopted should satisfy the need of the customers (Marketing strategy, Para 1). There are very important techniques that must be adopted to asses the market and attract customers when starting a new business. A good businessperson should try one or more of these techniques to lead his or business to success. The first technique is creating a marketing plan that will help in the first assessment of the market. The Marketing plan must be based upon the objectives set in the business plan. A thorough revision, analysis, and understanding of the company's business plan are the first strategies in creating a marketing plan (Dolak, Para 2). There is a technique of business networking commonly used by small business owners. Normally, one attends several business and networking functions that enable meeting as many people as possible. The price or the selling effort strategy should also be, considered since it is the central value surrounding every business. In the process of introducing your business product, one is required to sell to the innovative customer at a premium price. The price has the probability of falling down as the business faces more competition. Here, one is supposed to adopt a penetrating strategy of increasing the price and sacrificing short-term profits when a market share is achieved (Marketing strategy, Para 5). When a businessperson fully understands the goals and objectives of his or her business then it will easier to understand the benefits and services you offer to your customers. One will also get to know how to deliver those products and services to targeted customers and explore strategic opportunities that increases the benefits and profits of the business (Dolak, Para 3). One should also try to identify the organizational, information and human resources that is needed to provide support to the business. This will invol ve learning and assessment of how the business organization can support internal processes. Members of the organization should undergo training of the business activities through information technology and incentives for the purpose of implementation. (Hutt and speh, 440) There is also the use of Newsletters a very strong marketing strategy to put your name on top

Performance Assesments Essay -- essays papers

Performance Assesments Due to the implementation of this new law, states are required to annually test all students in public schools. Anthony Rebora (2004) states that â€Å"by the 2005-2006 school years, states must begin testing students in grades 3-8 in the areas of reading, math, and writing† (p. 1). In the 2007-2008 school years, science will be added in to the testing material. The tests must meet the requirements of the states academic standards. They are supposed to bring all students up to the proficient level on their assessments by the 2013-2014 school years. Rebora (2004) also observed that the academic content and achievement standards define what all children should know in order to be considered proficient in each state (p. 2). These state assessments are a mechanism for checking whether schools have been successful in teaching students the knowledge and skills characterized by the content standards. In an article, titled â€Å"test and punish† in NEA Today, â€Å"the number of schools that missed Adequate Yearly Progress for two or more years reached 6, 794 or 12 percent of the schools in those states† (Lochert, 2004, p. 10). Although former Education Secretary, Rod Paige believes that results show that No Child Left Behind is working and test scores are rising, other officials say that the credit associated with the rising scores go to other factors. These factors include, teaching students test taking skills, the new regulations that permit some to exempt some students’ scores, and there are more students taking the required tests. In previous years, some schools were labeled inadequate because not enough students took the assessments. (Toppo, 2004) It has become largely popular for teachers to focus more on... ...ents being able to interact with their environment. Lochert, K. (2004, November). Test and Punish. NEA Today, 10. This article talks about Adequate Yearly Progress. The standards that each school must meet to comply with the No Child Left Behind Law. It gives statistics that attempt to show that many schools will not reach the goal. Schemo, D. J. (2004, March 25). 14 States Ask U.S. to Revise Some Education Law Rules. The New York Times. There are many states that disagree with the law and feel that its requirements are far too strict. This article explains why the states think the law is unfair. They feel that any progress in the academic rates or proficiencies of students should be more important than ensuring that one hundred percent of students are at a sufficient level by a certain date. They signed a letter asking for it to be redesigned.

The Study Of Psychology And Psychology - 984 Words

Firstly, it is important to know what is meant by the term â€Å"science†, and then to establish whether psychology adheres to this. The Oxford English Dictionary defines science as â€Å"the study or knowledge of the physical world, based on observation and experiment†. This immediately raises issues about this debate as many areas of psychological research do not involve the observable. For example, the areas of Clinical and Counselling psychology rely on a patient’s thoughts and feelings to help determine whether they suffer from a mental disorder. Owing to an advancement in technology, however, phenomena that was once labelled as unobservable can now be observed. One example of this includes emotions, including happiness, sadness, disgust, fear,†¦show more content†¦This, however, should not be taken at face value as these bodies would not want to portray themselves as being unscientific. Nevertheless, there is an overall positive effect of the psych ological bodies seeing themselves as scientific as empirical research will be promoted further, making psychology as a subject more scientific. Furthermore, psychology has become more scientific by the need to move away from pseudo-scientific perspectives. One such perspective, is Freud’s Psychodynamic approach. This focuses on the subconscious mind, and as this phenomena cannot be observed, it has been argued that the Psychodynamic perspective is unfalsifiable and untestable. Both of these elements are key parts of what makes a science. However, others have argued that the Psychodynamic perspective is testable, but that it has just failed those tests (Hansson, 2015). review The Behavioural perspective was the first to try and move psychology as a subject away from the unscientific by focusing on observable and measurable behaviour to gain empirical evidence. Moreover, since the 1970s, the Biological perspective has grown hugely with neuropsychology now being a dominant approach. This shows that psychology has made a move to become more scientific in its approaches and methods over time. review It has been argued that demarcation should be unchanging throughout time. The research results presented below fall under the category of primary research. The primary research collected consisted of 217 survey responses and 12 in-person interviews. The participants were all McCombs students with several different majors. Around 48% of the participants were sophomores, and the remaining 52% were freshmen, juniors, and seniors. Knowledge The one of the first questions in the survey tested the knowledge of participants about social enterprise. About 59% of the 217 respondents said that they did not know what a social enterprise was.
